A library is a designed set, not a random combinatorial explosion. You specify the parent sequence, the window length, the offset, and whether each member is purified or crude. Crude overlapping peptides are common for first-pass ELISA mapping; purified members are used when a hit will be published as a single sequence.
Positional scanning and alanine scans answer different questions. Say which experiment you will run so that we do not synthesize more peptides than the plate plan can use.
