Custom Antibody Production Services

Peptide-first antibody programs: antigen design, immunization, screening and purification for research laboratories.

ChinaPeptides provides custom antibody production that starts from antigen design and continues through immunization, screening and purification. The service is intended for research laboratories. It is not a turnkey diagnostic-kit factory and it is not a therapeutic antibody development franchise.

Peptide antigens can be made and conjugated in-house. That is why many groups use the same partner for custom peptide synthesis and antibody work: the epitope, spacer and carrier are decided once. A protein immunogen can be used when you supply it or when recombinant expression is a separate research project.

What a research antibody program actually specifies

A useful inquiry names the target protein, the preferred epitope region if known, host species, monoclonal versus polyclonal format, and the assay in which the antibody will be tested. Those items change antigen design and the screening antigen. Immunizing with a KLH conjugate and screening only against KLH is a common failure mode; it is avoided by stating the screen up front.

Antibodies supplied through this site remain research reagents. They are not offered for administration to humans.

Peptide antibody production

When the immunogen is a peptide, we review length, hydrophilicity and cysteine placement, then conjugate to KLH or another agreed carrier. Screening can use the free peptide or a second conjugate so that carrier-reactive antibodies are visible. Design notes live on antigen design and antigenic peptides.

A peptide is a poor immunogen when it is buried, glycosylated in the native protein, or a hydrophobic brick. We will say so rather than synthesizing it only because it was requested.

Monoclonal and polyclonal paths

Monoclonal antibody work is appropriate when a single defined specificity and a renewable reagent are required. Hybridoma screening should include the format of the final test—ELISA, blot or other—so clones are not selected only on a convenient plate assay.

Polyclonal antibody work is faster when a broader epitope set is acceptable. A polyclonal lot is finite. If you later need a renewable reagent, plan a monoclonal follow-up rather than assuming a second bleed will match the first.

End-to-end scoping is described on antibody production. Neither path is a substitute for the other; the assay decides.

How a program is run

  1. Antigen review — peptide versus protein, conjugation handle, screen antigen.
  2. Immunogen preparation — synthesis and conjugation when a peptide is used.
  3. Immunization and monitoring — host and schedule as scoped.
  4. Screening — against the agreed antigen, not only the carrier.
  5. Purification — serum, antigen-affinity or other agreed method.
  6. Documentation — what was immunized, screened and purified.

Timelines depend on host and format. We will not invent a fixed calendar that ignores the biology of the host.

Peptide antigen versus protein immunogen

A linear peptide is the right immunogen when the epitope is known and accessible. It is the wrong immunogen when the binding site is discontinuous or depends on a glycan. In that case a recombinant protein should be discussed instead of forcing a peptide that cannot represent the fold.

When both are used—protein for immunization and peptide for a competition ELISA—write both into the same inquiry. Mixing them later is how programs lose months.

What we will not invent

This site does not list a fictional clone catalog, guaranteed titers or therapeutic antibody pipelines. Host schedules and purification methods are scoped per project. Antibodies remain research reagents.

Frequently asked questions

Can a program start from a peptide antigen only?

Yes. Many research programs begin with a synthesized peptide, carrier conjugation, and then polyclonal or monoclonal work. The screening antigen should be agreed at the same time.

Do you sell therapeutic or diagnostic-kit antibodies as a finished product line?

No. Antibody services on this site are for scientific research. They are not offered for administration to humans.

What should an antibody inquiry include?

Target name, sequence or accession if available, preferred format (mono/poly), host, and the intended ELISA, blot or other research assay.

When is a monoclonal program the better choice?

When you need a renewable antibody with a defined specificity. A polyclonal lot is faster but finite and more heterogeneous.

Is affinity purification included?

It is scoped per project. Peptide programs often request antigen-affinity purification to reduce carrier-reactive antibodies.

Can you use a protein immunogen instead of a peptide?

Yes, if you supply the protein or request recombinant expression as a separate research project.
